Message from the Blueliners.
December 2009 Dear Supporters of HS Hockey, For the second year Brookfield, Bethel and Danbury HS will come together and play as one team under the name BBD IceCats. We would like to thank our Athletic Directors, Chris McDougal (Brookfield), Mark Godwin (Bethel) and Dan Donovan (Danbury) for working together and making this possible! Last season the team enjoyed a lot of success on and off the ice as 3 communities came together to work towards a common goal. We are optimistic that again this season will offer the opportunity for our players and managers to grow and sharpen skills which will benefit them throughout their HS, college and business careers. As parents we are very proud of the Brookfield, Bethel and Danbury students. They work very hard on and off the ice all year and play a sport that is physically and mentally demanding but full of life lessons. They adhere to academic standards and as a group achieved an impressive 3.50 combined GPA. In order to participate in a sport that they love they must put in a lot of time fundraising and they do this willingly and without complaint.. The students are developing skills such as teamwork, perseverance, dedication, self sacrifice, dependability and good sportsmanship. In fact, the IceCats received a good sportsmanship award from the SWC last season. This is our sixth annual program book and we would like to extend our thanks to the many parents, friends and businesses that have helped the team with advertisements, donations and support. Without you we would not be able to put a Varsity team on the ice. Hockey Teams operate under a different model than other varsity sports because of external costs (ice time) and raising funds is critical so we thank you for your ongoing support. To our students we would like to extend our best wishes for a successful season. The Blueliners mission is to provide HS students with the opportunity to participate in the sport of Ice Hockey. We view this as an investment for our students that will help them become solid citizens and contributors to their communities. Go IceCats!
